On the afternoon of September 24, two window washers were rescued after their stage collapsed in Midtown Toronto. The individuals were working near the 18th floor of 2180 Yonge Street when their stage gave way under them. Thankfully, they were independently tied off to Pro-Bel Safety and Tie Back Roof Anchors and were unharmed.
During the rescue, Toronto Fire District Chief Stephan Powell told CP24 that “they both made it to the same ledge and they were both basically saved by their safety equipment."
Our Fall Arrest system is designed to allow for safe suspension for up to 30 minutes in situations such as this to allow time for rescue workers to bring the individuals to safety. The independent tie-off system is also critical in these situations; since the window washers were tied off separately to our anchors when the stage collapsed, their fall was arrested.

Situations like this are one of the many reasons we ensure that every single system is installed, tested, and inspected thoroughly. We are glad that everyone involved is unharmed and a special thank you to the rescue workers who were able to quickly bring the window washers to safety.
