Inspired by the diverse student population of York University, the new student center represents the institution’s commitment to its student’s well-being and success. The modern building houses facilities for studying, extracurricular activities, and multi faith prayer. The design philosophy is influenced by the desire to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and engaged; thus the building features green roofs, high performance curtain walls, and plenty of natural light.

Pro-Bel Technical Solution

We designed a davit system on the 6th floor roof to reach past the wooden fins on the northern and southern façades. Safety and tie back anchor systems on the 4th and 6th floor roofs provide access to the remaining façades. We also designed 4 horizontal lifeline systems around the skylights to provide safe access to our davits installed close to the edge of the student center’s low parapet.
